Rules – The Dawn Trail

The Rules

Treasure is hidden within 20 feet of an active marked trail at the designated hunt location.
The treasure will be placed in a weatherproof container and will not require digging, climbing, or leaving the trail system.

Follow clues shared on Instagram (@hikethedawntrail) and in the newsletter to guide your search.
Anyone can participate — the adventure is open to all.
Clues will be released on a schedule announced before each hunt begins.

Only the first person to find and properly claim the treasure wins.
To claim your prize:
- Record a short video at the site showing the unopened treasure container.
- Send the video to @hikethedawntrail on Instagram or email [your email] within 24 hours of finding it.
Prize must be claimed within 48 hours of discovery or The Dawn Trail reserves the right to award it to the next finder.

Always follow posted trail rules and regulations.
Stay on marked paths — do not damage vegetation, disturb wildlife, or create new trails.
Leave no trace — pack out what you bring in.
Respect other trail users and keep noise levels appropriate for natural areas.
Do not remove, relocate, or tamper with trail markers or signage.

Participation is entirely at your own risk. The Dawn Trail is not responsible for injuries, accidents, or incidents that occur during the hunt.
Always tell someone where you’re hiking and when you expect to return.
Check weather and trail conditions before heading out.
Bring appropriate gear: water, proper footwear, a fully charged phone, and seasonal clothing.
Hunt only during daylight hours for your safety.
If conditions are unsafe (ice, flooding, severe weather), do not participate. The Dawn Trail will announce postponements on Instagram and via newsletter.

Be honest. If you find the treasure, claim it properly — don’t take it without reporting.
Be fair. Don’t sabotage other hunters, move the treasure, or share misleading information.
Be kind. This is a community adventure. Celebrate others’ efforts and have fun.

You participate at your own risk. The Dawn Trail, its organizers, sponsors, and affiliates are not liable for any injury, loss, damage, or accident that occurs before, during, or after the hunt.
Trail conditions can change. You are responsible for assessing safety and deciding whether to participate.
The Dawn Trail reserves the right to modify, postpone, or cancel any hunt due to weather, safety concerns, or unforeseen circumstances.
By participating, you agree to these rules and acknowledge that outdoor activities carry inherent risks.

By submitting a claim video or appearing in hunt-related content, you grant The Dawn Trail permission to share your first name, general location (city), and winning moment on social media and promotional materials.
Your contact information will never be shared or sold.
